This is my 3rd recipe in Baked category
I had decided to make Orange Mousse or Orange Cheesecake which get rave reviews every time I make and is fairly simple to make. I wanted good oranges for both as I prefer to use fresh orange juice needed in the recipe.
I have mentioned earlier that I live in a small rural town in a tribal area and have to make do without things as they are simply not available when one needs them. Oranges were not available. I thought with the Ganpati Festival at least one fruit vendor will get good quality oranges or Kinus. But no and I had left it to late to make anything with O. So I came up with these Onion Crackers. I use to fry them but reading this recipe at

Onion Crackers
Ingredients:
1 onion chopped
3 green chillies
Handful of coriander leaves
1/3 cup oil
50 gms butter
salt to taste
2 tsp baking powder
2 cups all purpose flour/maida
1 tsp cumin/ jeera
Method:
Grind coriander leaves, green chillies jeera and chopped onion to a rough paste. Remove in a big vessel.
Add salt, oil and butter. Stir well. Add flour with baking powder and knead well. If necessary add a few drops of cold water to bind it to a soft dough. Knead well for 5 minutes and cover and keep aside for 15 minutes to rest.
Heat oven for 15 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius.
Now make small balls (approximately 20) and roll on a board or between two pieces of plastic paper to make thin round discs like puris.
Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment /baking paper. Bake in hot oven for 20 minutes or till edges are brown.
Remove on cooling tray and let cool. Pack in air tight tin.
Enjoy onion crackers. with your evening tea/coffee or just as a snack.
The baked Onion Crackers are ready to eat. Serve as they are or with a dip or tomato ketchup.
